Gift Wrap Creates Excitement & Interest, A Little Pre-Gift Fun!

I DON'T OFTEN SPEND a lot of money on giftwrap,

 but every so often I really love to do this!!!

The gift was for a wedding of a daughter of some great friends. 

The gift was one of Michael Aram's  beautiful trays. 

I couldn't find the tray, but this is a sample of his work.

He does such beautiful things from nature.

So off to my source for exceptional giftwrap and ribbon. 

I found this beautiful paper, I guess you would call it flocked

 and this BEAUTIFUL MIDORI RIBBON!!!!!

It is quite different from our Michael's ribbon..'LIKE BUTTA" and so DECADENT!

I add a vintage flea market find to the center of the bow. EWWW La La!

Then I made my own gift tag from collaging the leaves, 

adding Swarovski crystals and hand painting the flowers for color!

Attached it with some silver cord.

The giftwrap got great revues and I expect since the bride carefully stored every piece of the wrapping away to keep meant she also appreciated the effort put forth.

It certainly does not have to be expensive as you can see on my brown paper Christmas wrap post  HERE to be beautiful, fun or quirky.

It just says to the person they are special by not just plunking 

it in a gift bag and adding some tissue.

 It's a lovely way of showing how special you feel about the person. 

Maybe match the giftwrap to compliment the colors in the gift or if you use a gift bag add a unique bow or dangle to the side or use a brown paper gift bag and decorate it with lace or sheet music or what ever comes to mind.

The Gift Presentation Makes the Person Feel They ARE Special.....

In my last post ( Here )  I did a "Show 'n Tell" about a wedding gift bulb

I designed that made me think outside of the box.

Well this IS the box I designed to present it in. Ha! 

The person that bought the bulb was giving it as a gift to a friend just loved it and so did the friend, THANK GOODNESS!! I always stress over these things.

Anyway this is how the gift box turned out...

 I truly love doing gift wraps and table scapes, can you tell????

While I usually find these boxes at my nearby Michael's they were out and I was stressing over finding one in time. I was roaming through TJ Maxx's one day (love that place!) and saw this Halloween box.

I grabbed my trusty silver spray paint can and worked some magic 

and you know how I LOVE magic!

   I was contemplating how I was going to approach the rest of this when I saw this feather piece at Michaels.....inspiration struck and I was off and running!!!

 I added the artwork on the sides and little glitter in some of the leaves, fun. Glitter is always fun!

I also made this draw string "sock" to put it in. I liked the zebra print to go with the zoo theme which was where the wedding was held. I am not very good in the sewing department, but I think it looked pretty good. Any advice is welcomed.

I found these at "jewels" at JoAnn Fabric and loved the idea that the draw string ends were not the same.

I'm NOT a matchey-matchey person!

I just think that after you go to all the trouble to find a special gift you just can't throw it in a paper gift bag and call it a day. If you want the person to feel special, you make it special...you put a little special touch to it that says they are special to you. It's the same as setting a lovely table...it says you cared enough to make this pretty for them, an added gift, a little show of how special you feel about them.

I hope you try your own creative version of gift wrap and see how much your friends will love it! I'd love to hear your stories....please tell all!

I told you that I would update you on how I was progressing on this years gift idea for my sister-friend, Jeanne. I take gift buying very seriously. 

 After roaming some of my favorite creative gift shops in the area 

I returned to one of my favorites, 

Mt. Lebanon Floral. 

They have a  unique verve to their shop and their approach to their creative arrangements. 

I walked in and well, there it was. I KNEW it had great potential.

Very vintage, rustic looking.....perfect to display all sorts of wonderful things including plants. I had no idea what I was putting in it, but knew it had great potential.

It is about 1'6"high.

Jeanne loves things from nature and I felt this had great potential.

So I found some additional items to add and gathered all my other treasures from my many flea market finds.

Even my hatbox of vintage lace and bindings.

I bought a fragrant oregano plant to use, burlap ribbon and painted the terra cota

pot gray for the oregano plant.

I found this little bird on a garden globe also a Mt. Lebanon Floral find.

I added this bird and the nest to the moss base I placed on the bottom.

This little magnet bird works any where.I think he looks great perched on top for now.

I believe the gift wrap is an integral part of the gift giving, it makes the receiver feel special, a little extra gift. To me it is just as much fun as the gift. I made this bow from a roll of burlap ribbon I found at Michael's.

I started by making a large burlap bow.

I used some lovely fabric samples Jeanne gave me years ago to make the flower.

A vintage ear ring is the center. 

I'm so excited to give it to her today. I am working on a gift tag too. Do you ever give a gift that you enjoy so much you find it hard to part with it. That's when I know I have found the perfect gift. 

A gift from the heart for someone who is very dear to my heart.
